Shimano Di2 Wireless Unit EW-WU101 – Communication with your smartphone

Thanks to D-Fly technology, the Shimano Di2 wireless unit EW-WU101 wirelessly transmits data such as the current gear, battery charge level or shift mode (manual or Synchro Shift), which can then be displayed on an ANT+ or Bluetooth-compatible bicycle computer or a Shimano Di2 information display. The wireless unit receives its information from the battery or the battery mount. Thus, settings can also be easily changed with a smartphone using the E-Tube platform. EW-WU101 has two E-Tube connections and is attached to the frame with a rubber strap.

D-Fly
Shimano D-Fly is a Near Field Communication (NFC) network that allows Shimano E-Tube electronic components (Di2, STEPS) and smartphones or compatible bike computers to communicate with each other. For example, it is possible to view information about the components on the display or to track power meter data. Shimano provides the E-Tube Ride app just for this purpose. D-Fly is compatible with ANT+, ANT as well as Bluetooth. Network partners include Garmin, Wahoo, Sigma and Cateye for Di2 components and Garmin and Sigma for STEPS components.
