The Specialized S-Works Dissident is a full face helmet for downhill riders that has been equipped with MIPS technology. It offers the best possible head and chin impact protection in demanding Gravity use, but only weighs around 1000聽grams thanks to the light carbon matrix. The adaptable, shock-absorbing MIPS layer additionally reduces the forces that occur in the event of a fall. Comfort was also considered: The multi-dimensional ventilation system, the removable, washable cheek pads and the magnetic closure that can be operated with one hand speak for themselves. The S-Works Dissident is equipped with a mount for the ANGi emergency sensor, but this is not included.

MIPS
MIPS is the acronym for ” Multi Directional Impact Protection System” and refers to a movable protective layer that is built into most Specialized helmets. This inlay is connected to the helmet via an elastomer and can glide in all directions by approx. 10聽to聽15聽mm. This absorbs and reduces the rotational forces acting on the head during a fall. In the MIPS SL version of the S-Works Road and the Ambush helmets, Specialized also ensure that the MIPS layer does not have any disadvantages in terms of ventilation and weight.
