Enduro racing: the Minion Semislick EXO Silkworm Tubeless Ready 27.5″ folding tyre set by Maxxis

Minion Semislick combines the cornering grip of a high-grip Enduro tyre with the rolling characteristics of a fast XC tyre. Small, ramp-shaped lugs in the centre are framed by the much loved and praised Minion side lugs. This combination results in a fast rolling tyre with an angular shape that digs itself into loose ground. Perfect for modern enduro races with long descents and longer ascents.

Maxxis strongly advises against the use of ammonia-based sealant. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after only a few months, depending on the amount used.

For the Dual Compound, two different rubber compounds are processed into one tread strip. The arrangement of the compounds is planned individually according to the desired properties of Maxxis tyres.

EXO Protection
This extremely cut and abrasion resistant material protects the sidewalls of various Maxxis MTB tyres. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tyres remains convincingly good.

Silkworm
Silkworm is a protective ply developed by Maxxis which lies under the tread and protects the tyre from punctures, cracks and other carcass injuries.

Tubeless Ready
Tubeless tyres have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube, the risk of punctures is reduced. Maxxis TR tyres are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other ” tubeless ready” tyres. The bead of the Maxxis TR tyres is completely covered with a rubber layer like a real UST tubeless tyre. As a result, tubeless mounting is successful for all rims with standard dimensions even during the first inflation and with little liquid.
